Dr Marion Gibson MSSc, Dip S.W., CQSW and Advanced Dip. in Psychological Trauma Management.
Learning through experience has been the basis for the professional life of Marion Gibson. Such learning has been converted into practice to provide psychosocial support to individuals and communities in the aftermath of traumatic incidents in their lives. The field of psychosocial support is constantly changing as more is understood about the reactions of those affected. This dynamic area of work has also been influenced by the wide variety of global traumatic incidents in the last decade. Marion Gibson's career has been one which has mirrored these developments. She has used her practical 'hands on' experience to develop methods of intervention which represent best practice for responders. Such interventions can also be used to support those facing a personal life crisis.

Marion Gibson's personal philosophy is that such experiences provide the opportunity to learn and develop techniques which enhance future responses. This philosophy underpins all her practice, teaching and research. Out of the psychological and practical chaos, growth can be experienced when a sense of order returns. She believes that when individuals and communities affected by trauma can begin to rebuild, physically and psychologically from their painful experience they may begin to recognize some more positive outcomes which will enhance their capacity for future resilience.
